Harkin proposes more aid for farmers

What Senator Tom Harkin calls “an economic disaster in agriculture” stillhasn’t gotten the Congressional attention he thinks it deserves. The Iowademocrat says the situation continues to worsen day-by-day, especially inthe Hawkeye State.Harkin says the emergency relief package for farmers he’s working on withSenate democrats is approaching ten-billion dollars. He says existinglegislation also needs attention.Harkin says he’ll offer his emergency ag amendment to the spending billtoday or tomorrow.
