Four counties declared federal disaster areas

President Clinton has declared Blackhawk, Butler, Jones and Woodburycounties federal disaster areas for damage done earlier this month. Thedeclaration comes as more flooding hits north and eastern Iowa today. StateEmergency Management Division spokesperson Kathy Stodola (stow-duh-luh) saysmore counties could be added as the damage adds up.Stodola says things have been rapidly changing with the current flooding, soit’s hard to tell how many more counties could be added to the disasterlist.Emergency management officials had just finished the paperwork to requestaid for the Fourth of July weekend damage when the latest round of floodinghit. They now have to do more assessment.
