Newton air show flies this weekend

The central Iowa community of Newton is holding what it calls “RidiculousDays” this weekend — with events ranging from free concerts to an air show.Organizers say that air show will be top notch — with barnstormer biplanes,wingwalkers, skydivers and more.Dennis Combs, a spokesman for the Newton Ridiculous Days Festival, says thecollection of vintage World War Two and Korean War-era planes won’t just besitting on the ground.As part of Ridiculous Days, Combs says there’s also a party within thecelebration — called the Blue Festival, blue as in Maytag blue. It’sbringing in a variety of musical acts for concerts, many of them free. Thetunes this morning through tonight range from Christian rock to blues.Gates at the air show (at the Newton Airport) open at 10 this morning. Theshow runs from 2 to 5 pm. The times are the same for tomorrow.
