Wapsie continues to rise above flood stage

The flooding Wapsipinicon River is rising higher than it was expected to innortheastern Iowa’s Jones County. The crest was expected this morning atAnamosa about four feet over flood stage — and officials say the expectedmark has been passed and the water’s still rising.Robin Reese is the Jones County Emergency Management coordinator. She saysthe crest may not come there until late tonight — or even tomorrow — dueto the renewed rain. Reese says damage has been minimal so far and clayberms and sandbag walls are being reinforced.She says there are no reports of any injuries or any homes being lost withinJones County in this latest bout with flooding.
