Davenport school first to be run "for profit"

A Davenport elementary school will become the first in Iowa to be run by afor-profit company. The New York-based Edison Project will take over Jefferson Elementary whereteachers will be retrained, the school day will be lengthened to nearly 8hours and at least 20 days will be added to the school year.
