Group releases another report on violent video games

An Iowa City-based watchdog group released it third report today on violentvideo games. The latest report by Iowans for the Prevention of Gun Violencecovers the Mason City/Clear Lake area. The group’s executive director,Dennis Smith, says violent games should be removed or restricted foradults-only. Smith says it isn’t hard to spot the violent video games.The group is also trying to get businesses to restrict violent videos.Smith says the media’s influence on Americans was evident as Mark Bartonquoted a line from a violent movie during the recent office shooting inAtlanta.Mason City Mayor Bill Schickel was on hand for today’s IPGV announcement.Schickel has called on all businesses to help ban violent games and videos. IPGV has also released reports on violence for the Cedar Rapids/Iowa Cityand Waterloo/Cedar Falls areas.
