Some eastern Iowans are considering copying the highly-popular art exhibit”Cows On Parade” now on display throughout Chicago, with an Iowa twist. TheWindy City is featuring more than 300 life-size fiberglass cows, painted inall sorts of wild colors and patterns. Iowa’s art would be on pigs.Richard Luther is development manager for Cedar Rapids. He envisions thepainted “Pigs On Parade” throughout the City of Five Seasons. Luther saysit’d be a unifying and fun community event, though he doesn’t know how mucha fiberglass pig would cost.He admits the animals-on-parade thing is not an original idea, but figuresif it works so well in Chicago, it’ll be a hit in eastern Iowa too.Luther says Cedar Rapids’ Visual Arts Commission is “enthusiastic” about theproject, but he admits it’ll take some time before the colorful oinkers arelined up in the Linn County county seat.
