Fed Chairman under attack from presidential candidates

The chairman of the Federal Reserve Board has become a target for a fewpresidential candidates who blame Alan Greenspan, in part, for farm woes. Republican Steve Forbes is running a radio ad which criticizes “Fed”chairman.Forbes says the economy is healthy, but Greenspan’s policy proposals are foran ailing economy.Forbes says raising interest rates is the wrong course of action.Republican presidential candidate Gary Bauer says low interest rates arejust about the only bright spot for farmers. Fellow candidate Dan Quaylelast week also issued a statement condemning Greenspan’s plan to raiseinterest rates, citing the harm to the farm economy.
