State seeks input on forests

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is holding a public forum tonite inAmes on the future of the state’s forests. Environmental consultant WendyZohrer (zore) says they want to know what you want done with the forests inthe next millennium.Iowa is often viewed as a flat open state full of corn and bean fields, butZohrer says that’s not the case. she says there are 44-thousand acres offorests in public ownership. She says 92-precent of Iowa’s forests areprivately owned. The forum is at 7 pm at the state forest nursery.If you can’t make the meeting Zohrer encourages you to send her a letterwith your input.
