AARP seeks to rally members to caucuses

The American Association of Retired Persons unveiled a plan today to get moreof its members to vote in the Iowa Caucuses. The “Iowa Caucus Project” will use mailings, advertisements, phone calls,and voter guides to reach the 360-thousand Iowa A-A-R-P members. BruceKoeppl [KEP’-ul] says issues like Social Security, Medicare, long term care,and consumer protections from managed care are important to A-A-R-P membersand their VOTES are important to candidates. Mary Rose Brown is the Iowa State Coordinator for the “Iowa Caucus Project.” She hopes candidates will tackle issues important to older people.The ads will debut in newspapers across the state tomorrow and fliers willbe passed out at the State Fair.
