Clar Lake state representative won’t run again

A four-term state representative from Clear Lake says he won’t seek anotherterm next year. Republican Gary Blodgett represents district 19 which coversthe southern two-thirds of Cerro Gordo county.Blodgett has been an assistant leader in the Iowa House of Representatives.Blodgett says he ran for office to try and get the state’s fiscal house inorder and believes that has been done.Blodget says he does regret that two amendments to the state constitutionfailed to pass last year.Blodgett, a retired dentist, once tried unsuccessfully to become chairman ofthe Iowa Republican Party. His wife, Sandy, has been active in G.O.P.politics, too.
