Gore repeats call for increase in minimum wage

During a speech today in Waterloo, Vice President Al Gore renewed his callfor an increase in the minimum wage. Gore addressed about two-hundredIowans at the A-F-L/C-I-O state convention this morning.Gore reminded the crowd of President Clinton’s rejection of anti-unionproposals advanced by the Republican-led Congress.Gore said the next President will be able to pick at least three members ofthe U-S Supreme Court.Gore has been endorsed by another key union in the state, AFSCME, and as hedid when he spoke at AFSCME’s convention earlier this summer, Gore stressedthe economic turn-around which occured during the Clinton/Gore years.Gore couldn’t resist poking fun at last weekend’s Iowa Republican partyStraw Poll.Yesterday, democrat presidential candidate Bill Bradley spoke to the sameunion group.
