Big back-to-school weekend expected in stores

With classes starting in many Iowa schools next week, this weekend isexpected to be a shopping frenzy at most malls. It won’t just be a run on pencils, paper & protractors. Malls are expectinga deluge of back-to-school shoppers snapping up all types of attire, fromdapper duds to gym clothes. Derrick Henry is assistant general manager ofIowa’s largest mall, Coral Ridge in Coralville.While Henry says Coral Ridge won’t likely see as many people hit the mall asare at the state fair, he’s expecting at least 50-thousand shoppers.A Des Moines mall official said this could be the year’s second biggestshopping weekend, next to the weekend after Thanksgiving.
