Ames police investigate a murder

One man is dead, another is in custody, after the first homicide in the cityof Ames in two and a half years. 43-year-old Patrick Lee Kerns faces murder charges after the body of a whiteman was found in a trailer home. Ames Police spokesman Sergeant Randy Kesselsays police were summoned by a neighbor in the trailer park who told a 9-1-1dispatcher that a fight was underway.The victim’s name has not been released, nor has the cause of death.
