Juvenile facility looks to possible expansion

Officials with the Central Iowa Juvenile Detention Center in Eldora areexploring the possibility of a capital improvement campaign. The center is alittle over five years old and is where youthful offenders are placed.Executive director Tony Reed says a capital committee has been created toconsider the center’s future as he says it’s splitting at the seams.The center is located on the grounds of the Eldora Training School. Reedsays it’s grown a lot since 1994.Juvenile offenders from nine counties are placed at the center.
