House speaker to meet with Iowa farmers

The speaker of the U-S House is making a stop in northwest Iowa thisafternoon. Republican House Speaker Dennis Hastert is holding an agriculture roundtablewith a group of Iowa farmers near Milford. Iowa congressman Tom Latham willalso participate. In an interview prior to the roundtable, Latham said tradebarriers have to be dropped to help American farmers.Latham says legislators have to be smart about any action taken to handlethe farm crisis.He isn’t in favor of taking U-S cropland out of production.Latham is a republican representing the fifth district.
