Damage averted in Union County manure spill

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says it appears major problems wereaverted in a large manure spill in Union County Tuesday. D-N-R spokesmanMick Klemesrud says the spill happened east of Thayer.Klemesrud says 25 to 35-thousand gallons of manure flowed out when the pipebroke. He says Iowa Select Farms employees were able to keep the majority ofthe manure out of Seven Mile Creek.Klemesrud says no fish have died from what manure did get into the creek.
