Morningside receiver on a record pace

September 22, 1999 By admin

With a reception in each of his last eight games, Morningside wide receiverMitch Allner will break the all-time national division-two record of43-consecutive games with a catch. Allner has caught a pass in 36 straightgames heading into this weekend’s matchup with Nebraska-Omaha, even thoughhe was not even a wide-out when he entered college. Allner was a standoutquarterback at Sioux City North high school.Allner says if the record happens that is great but he would rather leadMorningside to its first winning season since 1985.While Allner has been consistent he can also provide the big play and ranksin the top 20 nationally in punt returns at nearly 17-yards per return.
