Charges dropped against NE Iowa funeral home director

Charges have been dropped against a northeast Iowa funeral home directoraccused of exposing himself to an elderly couple. Indecent exposure charges filed against 60-year old Ted Shelly of Manchesterwere dismissed as authorities say the statute of limitations on the chargeshad run out. Shelly was first charged three years ago after alledgedlyexposing himself to an elderly couple that rented an apartment from him. Ajury in a civil trial awarded the elderly couple 300-thousand dollars indamages. Shelly’s insurance company has paid five-thousand dollars each tothe couple, but is refusing to pay the remainder of the money pending anappeal to the Iowa Supreme Court.
