Fire damages elevator in Independence

Officials are still trying to determine the amount of damage caused in agrain elevator fire in Independence Monday.Firefighters from every department in Buchanan county and some from othercounties were called to the fire on the north side of Independence. The firestarted in one of the devices at the top of the elevator that distributesthe grain to bins. Grain had to be emptied from the elevator so firefighterscould get to the fire.
