Boswell again calls for more VA funding

Congressman Leonard Boswell says Congress isn’t providing enough money foroperation of the nation’s Veterans Administration hospitals. A vote isexpected today on a budget bill which increases V-A spending on medical careby one-point-seven Billion dollars. Boswell, a Vietnam-era vet, says that’snot enough.Boswell advocates at least three=Billion dollars extra for the VeteransAdministration medical care system.A September report from the V-A Medical Inspector found problems at V-Ahospitals in Knoxville and Iowa City. The report confirmed a diversion ofpatients from the Des Moines V-A hospital and a lack of bedspace, plus apatient-to-nurse ratio that’s too high.
