Harkin blames Republicans for failure of nuclear test ban treaty

As three world powers criticize the U-S Senate for yesterday’s rejection of anuclear test ban treaty, Iowa Senator Tom Harkin is agreeing with them. Thedemocrat says the vote was “one of the saddest” in all of his years inWashington.Harkin blames a “handful of republican rightwing senators” for politicizingthe issue and bringing about its failure.China, Russia and India say the treaty’s benefits will be put on holdbecause the U-S is not on board.
