Congressman Ganske helps stall anti-ethanol bill

October 15, 1999 By admin

Congressman Greg Gankse helped stall a bill which could have shut ethanol outof California’s gas stations. A California Congressman tried to get U-SCommerce Committee approval of a bill which would exempt California fromClean Air act fuel standards.California waters have been contaminated with M-T-B-E, the oil-based fueladditive which competes with ethanol. California is in the process ofbanning M-T-B-E, and ethanol is poised to take the market. The bill Ganskehelped defeat would have jeopardized that.Ganske says Midwestern Congressmen got the backing of environmentalists inthis latest go-round over ethanol. This latest ruckus over ethanol occured in the Commerce Committee andGankse’s a member of that panel.
