Grassley says Republicans have a plan in budget hearings

Top level budget meetings are planned today between Republican Congressionalleaders and President Clinton. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says he’s beingtold by his colleagues there will be NO budging on the issue of SocialSecurity into which the President reportedly wants to delve.Grassley says there are three main guidelines members of Congress will besticking to as they meet with President Clinton today:they won’t shut down the government, raise taxes or spend social securitymoney.Eight of the 13 major spending bills needed to fund the federal governmentstill haven’t passed.
