October 22, 1999 By admin

If you’re thinking about burning some of those fall leaves this weekend, aDepartment of Natural Resources spokesman is asking you to reconsider. D-N-RAir Quality Specialist Brian Button says burning leaves puts a lot ofpollution into the air. He says leaf burning puts more pollutants into theair than all industrial and auto emmissions combined.Button says you should think about the impact on others before burningleaves. He says burning leaves at night can also cause problems as the burnedparticles can hang in the air and be breathed in by people who’re sleeping.Button says there are lots of alternatives to burning your leaves.Button says there are still many communities in Iowa that permit residentsto burn leaves.
