Buchanan to drop out of Republican party

At nine o’clock Iowa time, Pat Buchanan will announce he’s leaving theRepublican party to run for the Reform party’s presidential nomination. Mike Cormack of Fort Dodge is a Republican state representative who supportsBuchanan’s bid.Cormack says the Republican nomination seems to be available only to thosewho can raise 100-million — or use their own wealth to bankroll a campaign.Cormack says the G.O.P. nomination is already decided, partly by the backingof big business.Buchanan opposes the North American Free Trade Agreement.
