The stakes are high in a special legislative election today in Cedar Rapids. The two major party candidates will spend more than a quarter million dollars on the race. The election’s being held to replace former House Speaker Ron Corbett of Cedar Rapids, a republican who resigned last spring to become President of the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce. Democrat Marsha Rogers faces Republican Pat Shey in today’s contest.
