Republicans have held a key seat in the Iowa legislature. G-O-P candidate Pat Shey won 56 percent of yesterday’s special election in a House district in Cedar Rapids. Democrat candidate Marsha Rogers spent over 150-thousand dollars on the race. Shey, the Republican who won, spent slightly less, about 125-thousand.With the win, Republicans maintain their six-vote margin in the Iowa House. The seat had been held by former House Speaker Ron Corbett, who resigned last spring to become president of the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce.
