ATF to help investigate Des Moines bomb

November 4, 1999 By admin

The Federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms is helping the Des Moines police investigate a booby-trap bomb that exploded on a bike trail Tuesday. Lieutenant Kelly Willis says they hope the A-T-F’s expertise can give them some clues as to what materials the bomber used. Willis says they don’t have any suspects. 44-year-old Wanda Harvey of Des Moines was hit in the leg by flying nails after hitting a wire with her bike and setting off the bomb. Her injuries were not severe.
