November 17, 1999 By admin

Iowa’s “Mothers Against Drunk Driving” or “MADD” organization hopes to join forces with some of Iowa’s colleges in hopes of reducing drunken driving. Drake University President David Maxwell symbolically placed a red ribbon on a campus security car yesterday. The red ribbon is a reminder not to drink and drive.Des Moines police cars now carry the red ribbon, too. William Moulder, the city’s police chief, says more drunken driving patrols will be launched statewide right after Thanksgiving.”Mothers Against Drunk Driving” officials say the number of drunken driving deaths has gone down 28 percent this decade. Next week, the red ribbon will be placed on the Governor’s vehicle. For more information about MADD, call 515-223-8144.
