Governor to spend Thanskgiving in Mt. Pleasant

Iowa’s chief executive will take the day off Thursday, returning to his home on Main Street in Mount Pleasant to revive some family traditions.Vilsack says some neighborhood kids will join his family’s game of touch-football on Thanksgiving morning. Vilsack is the turkey chef and he’ll start by putting onions, celery and carrots — in the turkey cavity. He will cook the turkey, breast down, 22 minutes a pound at 275 dgrees. Vilsack says that’ll result in absolutely wonderful moist, white meat. Vilsack says Thanksgiving is a time of personal reflection for him.
