Legislators talk about budget cuts

Republican legislators plan to slash millions from the state budget — and to cut taxes, too. G-O-Pers from the Iowa House and Senate met yesterday to discuss their agenda for the upcoming legislature. House Speaker Brent Siegrist says the group hasn’t settled upon a set figure for reducing your taxes.Governor Vilsack, a democrat, is working with the Republicans to trim up to 35-million dollars from the present year’s state budget.Republicans have a majority of the seats in both the House and Senate, which allows them to control the legislature’s debate agenda.
