Money missing in Sergeant Bluff

An official with the State Auditor’s office says the Sergeant Bluff city clerk is the prime suspect at this point in the disappearance of nearly 300-thousand dollars in utility deposits. Deputy State Auditor Warren Jenkins says the money disappeared over a period of three years.City clerk Phyllis Wax is currently on leave, but Jenkins says she isn’t facing any charges yet.The money was discovered missing after another employee in the clerk’s office noticed discrepancies in the bookkeeping.
