National summitt discusses land conservation

A national conservation summit sponsored by the U-S Department of Agriculture opens today in Ames. Iowa Natural Resources Conservation Service spokesperson, Laura Greiner, says the summit will center on private land conservation.She says the summit is a culmination of ongoing discussions of the issue.She says they hope to get to a starting point on some solutions to the issue that could end up in a new farm bill.The summit opens at 9 am with speeches from Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack and U-S Ag Secretary Dan Glickman.
