The theme for this year’s decorations is ” Holiday Treasures at the White House.” One of the Iowans is Bill Metz, a tinsmith from Middle Amana. He sent the White House a tin star and tin bell.Metz says that he was surprised when he was asked for one of his decorations.Metz doesn’t know how he was chosen to create the holiday ornaments, but is taking it as a compliment.Metz was also invited to see his decorations and meet the first lady at the white house, sometime during this holiday season. The other Iowa artists are Martha Waterman of Cedar Falls and Dennis Schmoker of Lehigh. Both make crafts.
