Forbes criticizes Bush for not making tax pledge

Republican presidential candidate Steve Forbes is criticizing G-O-P front-runner George W. Bush for failing to make a “no new taxes” promise.Forbes promises to cut taxes, establishing his 17 percent “flat tax” on income and he promises not to raise any tax. Forbes hopes to bring up the issue at Monday night’s candidate debate in Des Moines.Forbes says Bush’s reluctance to take the “no new taxes” pledge is curious, since Bush did make such a promise when he ran for Governor of Texas.Bush’s Iowa press secretary, Eric Woolson, says Bush will NOT raise taxes.Forbes is campaigning today in northwest Iowa.
