A Davenport family devastated by a fire earlier this week is getting help from the community. Three members of the family died earlier this week when their home burned to the ground. A three-year-old and her grandfather were the only ones to escape the blaze. City inspectors say the home must be demolished as soon as possible, but the family has no property insurance — and can’t afford the eight-thousand dollar bill. The City of Davenport, Scott County and several private businesses have decided to demolish the house, without charging the family a dime. Investigators still haven’t determined what caused the fire.
