Habitat for Humanity marks successful year

December 25, 1999 By admin

This past year, Iowans have banded together to work on over one-hundred-61 “Habitat” homes. The group “Habitat for Humanity” was formed in 1976 to build and renovate homes for low-income Americans who, in turn, promise a little “sweat equity” for the cause. Kerry Hilton is an affiliate support manager working with Habitat for Humanity chapters in Iowa. Hilton says there’s no set formula for how many “Habitat” homes are built from scratch and how many are re-construction or renovation projects. Hilton says there are “Habitat” chapters in rural and urban areas in Iowa.
