Hunters urged to donate deer hides

December 25, 1999 By admin

The Iowa Elks association is asking hunters again this year to make a gift of the deer hides they collect. John Miller heads up the Elks program that collects the hides. Miller says Iowa veterans used the tanned hides to make crafts which are sold to raise money. Miller says some of the hides are used to make gloves for use by veterans in wheel chairs. He says hunters can help by taking their hides to Elks Lodges. Miller says this is the second year of the program and they’ve already collected more hides this year than last.
