Tax Booklets Will Lack SS Numbers

December 28, 1999 By admin

About one-million Iowa income tax booklets are in the mail this week, with a major change. For years, the mailing label on your Iowa income tax booklet has carried your Social Security number. That label is then peeled off and placed on your return. This year, the mailing label does NOT include your Social Security number, due to many complants about the security risks of having the numbers openly displayed. Renee Mulvey (mull-vee) of the Iowa Department of Revenue and Finance says that means YOU have to print that number on your return. Mulvey warns you not to forget to put the Social Security number on your tax form. Mulvey says you should receive your Iowa income tax booklet in the mail sometime this week or next week.
