Texas Pilot Survives Iowa Plane Crash

A small plane crashed in Warren County at mid-day today, injuring the pilot who was the only occupant. The plane went down about five miles southwest of Indianola according to Warren County sheriff Jim Lee. Lee says the pilot told rescuers his Cessna plane lost power shortly after take-off from Des Moines. F-A-A investigators are on the crash scene at this hour. The pilot is identified as 26-year-old Eric Riekenberg of Texas, who is hospitalized in fair condition.
