Worker Stabbed at Perry Factory

December 28, 1999 By admin

A worker at the I-B-P plant in Perry was stabbed this morning and his injuries are life-threatening. Brian Gilbert, the chief sheriff’s deputy in Dallas County, says authorities were called to the I-B-P plant shortly after 7:30 this morning. Gilbert says interpreters have been called in to help interview workers in the meatpacking plant, as many speak Spanish as their primary language. Gilbert says the victim, who is Vietnamese, was taken to a Des Moines hospital and is still in surgery. Gilbert says it may be difficult to get information from the stabbing victim, if he survives, because he’s a mute.
