Drake women finish as best in the state

The Drake women wrapped up the mythical state title with a 78-69 win over Northern Iowa. Coach Lisa Bluder says the Bulldogs wanted to push the tempo but U-N-I’s Defense helped prevent it.Despite a roster depleted by injuries the game was close to the finish and Panther coach Tony Dicecco was proud of the effort.Allison Starr led U-N-I with 21-points and Nikki Spettel had 19 points and seven rebounds before fouling out.The Iowa women evened their Big Ten record at 1-1 with an 82-68 victory over Indiana.
