Cyclone star lost to broken foot

Iowa State’s worst fears were realized today when it was confirmed that junior forward Martin Rancik broke a bone in his left foot in Sunday’s win over Arkansas State. Cyclone coach Larry Eustachy says Rancik will have surgery late this afternoon and could be lost for the season.Eustachy says he feels sorry for Rancik, who suffered a broken bone in his hand in pre-season practice.Eustachy says the injury occured just as Rancik was playing his best basketball.Iowa State is 12-2 and hosts Missouri on Saturday in their Big-12 opener.
