Flu hurts donations to blood centers

Blood centers across the state say they are feeling the effects of the flu bug. Red Cross spokeswomen Sara Cross says many regular donors are under the weather, making it critical for people to donate blood.Cross works at the Grant Wood Area Red Cross which inludes Linn and Johnson counties. Cross says the blood supply is low, but not as bad as other parts of the state.Cross hopes more people will donate and keep the supply from hitting critical levels.
