Quaker Oats plant in Cedar Rapids to stay put

Officials at the Quaker Oats plant in Cedar Rapids say their factory is NOT among those scheduled for closure, relieving hundreds of workers. The company plans to close another plant in St. Joseph, Missouri, instead. Cedar Rapids plant maintenance worker Ken Cole says it’ll mean some restructuring.of some positions and jobs.Quaker Oats announced in September it would close “some” plants, and word came Thursday Cedar Rapids would NOT be among them. Plant mechanic Lyle Floyd says it’s a relief to finally have some answers, and continue to focus on his job.The closure of the Missouri plant will mean a restructuring of the Cedar Rapids plant, but no apparent job loss.
