Gore, Bradley continue campaigning

January 18, 2000 By admin

The two democrats seeking their party’s presidential nominations continue on the Iowa campaign trail today, with Bill Bradley campaigning in eastern Iowa. Al Gore made and appearance in Indianola.Gore partisans gathered in the Simpson College gym to hear a half-hour-long speech, which Gore said was intended to purge Iowans of any remaining doubts about his candidacy. Gore told his life story — and touted the economic boom during the Clinton/Gore years. At the end of the speech, he offered this comparison with rival Bill Bradley, without mentioning the Rhodes Scholar by name. Gore says the presidency isn’t an academic exercise or a seminar on some grant theory. He says it’s a day-by-day fight for real people with real problems.Gore, who is a Harvard grad, also made stops in Knoxville and Ottumwa this afternoon, with a 6:15 event scheduled in Burlington. Bradley campaigned in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City this afternoon.
