Survey says: Iowa economy remains strong

February 2, 2000 By admin

The January survey of midwest economic conditions by Creighton University Professor Ernie Goss shows a continued strong economy in Iowa and eight other states. Goss says Iowa rebounded from a December dip in the survey’s economic indicators. He says federal farm payments are helping the state’s economy. The employment numbers in the survey increased in January. But, Goss says it’s not because of new workers, it’s people in the workforce getting another job.Goss says the lack of workers is one of the few things holding back the state’s economy.
