Legislature looks to close loopholes in sex offender law

Sex offenders who fail to let law enforcement know when they move would be charged with an aggravated misdemeanor under legislation approved by theIowa Senate. Legislators didn’t set up a penalty when the sex offender lawwas originally passed.Senator Jeff Angelo, a republican from Creston, says the billseeks to fix a flaw in the state law which forces paroled sex offenders tolet police know where they live.The bill passed the Senate 46-to-zero and now goes to the House forconsideration.
