Brewery rolls out the barrel statewide

February 9, 2000 By admin

An eastern Iowa micro-brewery is almost ready to take the “micro” out of its name. After humble beginnings, Millstream Brewing Company in Amana is rolling out its barrels statewide for the first time this week.Brian Henderson is co-owner of the brewery, which claims to be Iowa’s oldest micro-brewery, established in 1985. He says the traditional German lager sets his bottled brand aside.Besides the lager, Millstream also offers a wheat and an amber beer. Henderson says his beers used to only be available in the Amanas, Cedar Rapids and Iowa City areas. Now that it’ll be going statewide, he says the brewery will be cranking it up a few notches. He says this marks the first time an Iowa beer has been available in every county in Iowa.
